Thank you to all attendees of the Ruth Sharp Altshuler Tocqueville Society Luncheon, a powerful celebration of legacy, leadership and lasting impact. United Way of Metropolitan Dallas was honored to host guests at the Rosewood Mansion in the spirit of giving and civic engagement. We extend our gratitude to HN Capital Partners for their generous sponsorship and commitment to community transformation.
It is fitting that during our Centennial year, we’d be graced by special guests who embody the Tocqueville Society’s roots and future, Jean-Guillaume and Stéphanie de Tocqueville. As descendants of Alexis de Tocqueville, the namesake of our society, their presence served as a powerful reminder of the ideals he championed—liberty, democracy and civic engagement. During a special fireside chat with Sonal Shah, CEO of the Texas Tribune, Jean-Guillame discussed his admiration for the philanthropic spirit in North Texas, how American philanthropy compares to that of Europe, the power of grassroots civic action and more.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all speakers and participants, including the Paris delegation, Stéphanie and Jean-Guillaume de Tocqueville, event sponsor HN Capital Partners, Sonal Shah, Sam Self, Kristy Faus, JW Washington, Steven Williams, and Tocqueville Society Co-Chairs Erin Nealy Cox and Trey Cox.
And to each of you—our committed Ruth Sharp Altshuler Tocqueville Society members—thank you for your annual investment to United Way of Metropolitan Dallas.
Together, we are ensuring that North Texas is the best place to live, work and raise a family—for all.
A big thank you to everyone who helped make our 3rd Annual Bench & Bar “Boo-Ray” Tournament a success! The fun-filled event was a chance for the North Texas legal community to enjoy a little friendly competition, network with fellow Women of Tocqueville and make a positive impact for our community. More than 80 guests from 24 of North Texas’ largest law firms gathered for a friendly tournament of Boo-Ray, an exciting, fast-paced trick-taking card game. Thank you to our sponsors: FTI Consulting, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, Kirkland & Ellis, Reed Smith LLP, and Sidley Austin.
Thank you to everyone who attended the George W. Bush Presidential Center’s Community Conversation with Emmanuel Acho on April 24 at Southern Methodist University. This powerful conversation with Emmanuel—a former NFL player, #1 New York Times bestselling author and bold thought leader—was moderated by Bush Center President & CEO Ken Hersh. In partnership with the George W. Bush Presidential Center, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas sponsored the event providing community-wide access for the public to attend.
During our Tocqueville Society Luncheon, we announced that Carol and Kevin March are generously donating $5 million to further our community impact work in North Texas. This bold investment will help cultivate the next generation of philanthropic leaders who will carry the Tocqueville legacy forward.
