Volunteer for Reading Day
Calling all book lovers! United Way Reading Day presented by EY — one of our most exciting and impactful volunteer events part of our Volunteer Series presented by Texas Instruments — is just a few weeks away. As one of our dedicated supporters, we’d love to have you join us at L.L. Hotchkiss Elementary as we read to children in classrooms across North Texas on Friday, March 3.
As part of the Live United movement, you know that one of our key education goals is to increase by 50% the number of North Texas third graders reading on grade level by 2030. Third grade is an important time because it’s when children typically finish learning to read and begin reading to learn in subjects such as math and history.
The best part about this goal is that it’s one our entire community can work toward – together. As a Reading Day volunteer, you’ll promote literacy and celebrate the joy of books by reading to preschool and elementary scholars in a local classroom. Or you can volunteer virtually by joining one of our book drives.
